Plant Encounter: Usnea

Join us for an immersive afternoon to study Usnea spp. and their medicine.

We start with an exploration of the specific properties and historical uses of Beard Lichens, including their gift of technology and medicine. We sample preparations made with Usnea, then head for a walk in the forest. With open hands and open mind, we engage our whole body to meet the lichen, activating our observation skills and our heart memory, taking time for silent attunement. We then learn how to harvest sustainably and deepen our knowledge by creating a preparation with Old Man’s Beard.

Herbal samples, identification tips and basics of herbal preparation will all be part of this special 4-hour journey.

Where? At the Herbal Hearth, our off-grid home and venue located in Mount Lorne.
Everything is included. Some activities will be held outdoors.
