From seed to harvest to preparation, bring aromatic herbs into your kitchen and apothecary with guidance every step of the way! Join us for parts 2 & 3 of the series and learn to tend and process aromatic herbs.

Throughout the season, we will be studying Sage, Thyme, Peppermint, Basil, Oregano and Marjoram. Have you successfully grown them? Do you know how to best preserve them? Are you enjoying special concoctions with them throughout the year? If not, this workshop series might inspire you.

These 6 Mint family plants (Lamiaceae) are relatively easy to grow in our northern climate. Most love warm spots where they sunbathe and exude scents from their native Southern Europe. Strong medicinal herbs, they are central ingredients in many traditional recipes. Cultures around the world have recognized their powers and included them in daily meals for flavour and health, from fire cider to pesto and chimichurri.

This 3 part series (9 hours total) is open for anyone to join at any point, even for a single workshop experience! Each 3 hour workshop will give you an opportunity to familiarize yourself with 2 herbs and 2 herbal preparations, and get to experience how to tend for these 2 herbs yourself. We will share gardening tips, taste delicious recipes and discuss the medicinal properties of each herb.

This is a hands-on gardening, cooking, medicine-making workshop all in one! An immersive experience that will give you confidence in applying traditional skills to fully receive the gifts of aromatic herbs. All levels are welcome.

Workshop series includes plants to grow at home, herbal preparation, recipes, mini herb profiles, hands-on tips, resources & sharing opportunities within a group of plant lovers like you!

Where? At the Herbal Hearth, our off-grid home and venue located in Mount Lorne.
Everything is included. All or most of the activities will be held outdoors.
